Pangandaran beach is in between of Bandung City and Yogyakarta City. It’s around 223 km from Bandung or around 400 km from Jakarta. Majority of the natives are having a job being a fisherman and among of them lived in a highly tolerance and respect.
You can see it in the evening, when the fishermen were going back to the land with many fishes on their boats, it seemed like all the fishermen were helping each other to take their fishes to the beach. Its cooperativeness has been going on until now. The thing that we can’t find in urban people whom careless to each other.
The exciting activity in Pangandaran beach is looking around every inch of it by foot. There’s a sensation when your foot-skin is touching a smoothy sand while you watch a great view and enjoy the life there.

From amount of attracting spot in Pangandaran Beach, there are several favorite spots which popular among of the travellers. Generally, it’s divided into two area, there are west side and east side of the Pangandaran Beach.
1. Pananjung Beach
Pananjung beach is a part of Pangandaran beach which located in the west. Pananjung beach is a favorite spot destination of many families to spend their vacation time. Pananjung beach has an enough calm wave. So that, the people that love swimming, is really pleasant in there.
Sun bathing or just take a walk to enjoy its beach is really fun. If you look to the other side of its beach, you will see a forest in the hills while that’s a nature preserve. In the forest, there are so many protected animals, such as monkey, deer, and the others interesting animals.
Around of the forest, there are amount of caves which formed by nature process, and man-made cave too. This man-made cave, supposedly said that it was made by Japanese army, used as a bunker while war world II.
Another interesting thing of it is on the top of the hill, there is a beautiful waterfall. If you want to see it, you have to climb the hill. You don’t need to worry that you will get bored while you climb the hill, because you will see so many beautiful nature’s landscapes along the way to the top which will make you relax when you arrive its top.
2. East Beach
East beach is another beach in Pangandaran. There are so many people said that it was a paradise for seafood-lover.
There are a lot of food stalls or restaurants which offering seafood menu, such us shrimp, crab, fresh fish, octopus, etc. Those culinary sea foods are set in the display window of the restaurant, so really teasing for everyone who saw it.
In the south of the East beach, you can visit fresh fish market which providing a lot of fresh fishes. Moreover, in the east beach of Pangandaran, there are several interesting sea games, such as jet-ski and banana boat.
3. Souvenir Shopping Center
If you want to buy some souvenirs from Pangandaran, there are a lot of souvernir shops around of the beach. You can find all about Pangandaran beach’s accessories, such as t-shirt, short pants, or many kinds of swim suit.
For those who love unique souvenirs, there are also a lot of handy crafts, such as surfing miniature, necklaces and bracelets from corals, and many kinds of creative processed souvenir too.
Not only a souvenir, but also several particular store sell typical salt fish of Pangandaran, this salt fish used to call as “Jambal Roti”.

ROUTE TO PANGANDARAN
If you started from Jakarta, there are two options you can choose by air or land. If you use a bus, you can take from Kp. Rambutan station to Pangandaran, actually it used to departed every one hour, and the cost for the bus is Rp60.000 (non AC) and Rp80.000 (AC)
But there might be a different cost. It depends on the bus company policy. This journey will take around for 7 hours. But, for your information, the bus is not always going to take you to Pangandaran directly. There are a few of buses just stopped in Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, or Banjar. If you go in group, it will be better if you rent for a travel agent bus.
If you want to go to Pangandaran in easy way, you can use air transportation. In Jakarta, there are several airlines that provide you to go from Halim Perdana Kusuma airport to Nusawisu Pangandaran airport.
In the meanwhile, if you go from Bandung, you can take from Cicaheum station. Some of them will take you directly to Pangandaran, but the others just take you until Ciamis and Banjar. From the both place, you can choose another transportation which can take you to Pangandaran.
